The (very) private life of the Cybook Odyssey…

We all know Cybooks love to travel, but they also appreciate the comforts of home ! Thanks to our intrepid Bookeeners, here’s a glimpse into the (very) private life of the Cybook Odyssey… and the winners of this round of our contest!

Careful not to splash!

Thanks to J-S V. for this lovely and relaxing photo! (If you’d like to try this at home, we recommend protecting your Cybook with a ziploc bag). I’m coveting that bathtub now… J-S V., would you mind subletting it to me from time to time?

Clearly it's true love... of reading!

From the bathtub to the bedroom… that must be an awfully good book! Thanks to Isa B. for this very sexy photo!

"On Neumarkt Place in Dresden, my Odyssey plays hide-and-seek with the Frauenkirche"

Laure G. takes us back outside for some fresh air and this magnificent view of the Frauenkirche in Dresden!

Our three winners will receive an accessory of their choice for their Cybook. Congratulations!

Our contest ends here (until the next time…) but the Cybook Parade continues on our facebook page; take a look at the photos sent by Bookeeners from all over the world, and feel free to send your own, if the mood strikes you!

Thank you again to all who participated, we absolutely love to see your photos!

Happy reading !

Cybook Parade: first winners!

Friday, March 2nd, 2012

Thanks to all of you for your participation ! The photos you sent in were creative, surprising, and funny. We loved all of them and it was really difficult to narrow down our selection! You can see all the photos in our facebook album “Cybook Parade“.

For this first round of prizes, we’ve selected 3 scenes: one in nature, one with a somewhat unusual use of a Cybook, and one in a place which is usually private but where reading often happens! Without further ado, our winners:

Lesen unter baeumen by Florian B.

Here is Patrice B.’s Cybook hard at work

David D. takes his Cybook absolutely everywhere

Bravo to our winners! We can’t wait to see the next photos we’ll receive for our Cybook Parade, stay tuned to discover our future winners in the next weeks.

To your cameras!

Bookeen team

How it works: you’re out and about with your Cybook. You take a photo of it, wherever you are, wherever you like to read… in your comfy chair, in your garden, in the café, in the park, in the subway, at the beach, on holiday…

The photos will be posted in our facebook album “Cybook Parade”; you can upload them directly to our page, or email them to communityATbookeenDOTcom; please mention “Cybook Parade” in the subject line.

We welcome photos of all Cybooks but this time the focus will be on the Cybook Odyssey, the newest member of the family!

The best photos will win a prize! If your photo is selected, you’ll win a cover or other accessory for your Cybook. The winners will be announced on our blog, every 2 weeks for the duration of the contest (one month).

The small print: by sending us your photo, you agree that we can post it on facebook and / or on our website / in articles about Bookeen.

“Cybook Parade” contest: Great news!

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

The end of June is upon us, and we really want to thank everyone who has sent us their photos to participate in our  “Cybook Parade” contest! For those just joining us, the contest is simple: just send us a photo to show us where you take your Cybook. For the entire month of June, we chose one photo per week and the winner received a cover in the color of their choice.

We received some amazing photos and it was really difficult to choose just one this week! So, to celebrate the end of a month of wonderful photos, we’ve decided that two winners are better than one, and we are thrilled to present the winning photos:

The Cybook Opus is not afraid of the longest road in Australia

Congratulations Marie J.!

Photos like this give us new appreciation for the long battery life of the Cybook Opus. We would certainly not like to find ourselves in the middle of the longest road in Australia with nothing to read! So we’re going to send her a cover, to protect her Cybook Opus from any wandering kangaroos. (Please note, with or without a cover, we do not recommend using your Cybook Opus to box with kangaroos.)

The Cybook Opus even travels through time

Congratulations Lorah B.!

This extraordinary photo of Lorah with her Cybook Opus was taken at Vaux le Vicompte during a celebration of the Great Century. We couldn’t say it better so we’ll content ourselves with quoting her: “Here is the proof that you can really take your Opus anywhere and whenever you want, even into the past! And it’s even multifunction!” We never would have imagined seeing an Opus in these circumstances, and we’re really curious about where and when her Cybook will wind up in fut— um, the next time. ;-)

You can see these photos and more photos from our readers on our facebook page.

And now, great news: the contest continues!

We want to thank everyone who participated, and we’ve got great news for all of you: we’ve loved receiving these brilliant photos so much, that we’ve decided to continue our contest! Keep on sending us photos of your Cybook out and about, we’ll choose two winners per month who will receive a cover!

Next time, the winner could be you! Show us where you like to read with your Cybook! Post your photo to our facebook page or send it to us by email at community[at]bookeen.com

Congratulations again to Lorah; we’d really love to follow the further adventures of her Cybook throughout the time-space continuum! And congratulations to Marie. We hope she’ll send us a photo of what’s at the end of that road! And good luck to everyone for next time.

Happy reading,

This week’s winner, and new firmware updates!

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

We couldn’t be happier to see all the photos for our “Cybook Parade” contest! Thank you to all who have sent them! For those just joining us, the contest is simple: just send us a photo to show us where you take your Cybook. For the entire month of June, we’ll choose one photo per week and the winner will receive a cover in the color of their choice. It’s not too late to send your photo, you might win next week!

We are in a hurry to announce our third winner. It could be a case of life or death. As you can see, this person urgently needs some protection for her Opus. Just look at what it’s up against!

Opus vs. Terminator!

We are hoping that she will keep sending us more great photos, but clearly if her Opus is going to confront the Terminator it is in dire need of a cover to protect it! So congratulations go to…

Lisa M.!

For her death-defying feats of bravery in the face of scary cyborg assassins (and the photos to prove it)! We hope she’ll send us more photos of the Adventures of Lisa’s Opus, we’re on the edge of our seat!

Bravo and congratulations, Lisa! You can see more photos from our readers, including more by Lisa, on our facebook page.

Next week, the winner could be you! Show us where you like to read with your Cybook! Post your photo to our facebook page or send it to us by email at community[at]bookeen.com

Congratulations again Lisa, and good luck to everyone for next week.

New firmware updates available now!

We are very happy to announce that new firmware updates for your Cybook are available now on bookeen.com. These updates are for version 2.1 with ePub support, and 1.6 with Mobipocket support. Both updates are compatible with all models of the Cybook Gen3 and Opus, and include bug fixes as well as new features, including our new “Instant Reading” feature, support for multi-level tables of contents, and expanded language support including non-latin languages. You will find all the details on our site.

Are you the winner?

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

We couldn’t be happier to see all the photos for our “Cybook Parade” contest! Thank you to all who have sent them! For those just joining us, the contest is simple: just send us a photo to show us where you take your Cybook. For the entire month of June, we’ll choose one photo per week and the winner will receive a cover in the color of their choice. It’s not too late to send your photo, you might win next week!

Today we are thrilled to announce our second winner. If we’re honest, we have to admit, we really hesitated, for purely selfish reasons. On one hand, the photos this person sent in are so stunning, that they clearly deserve to win. On the other hand, they are so stunning, that we really want him to send more!

But we’re keeping a stiff upper lip, and we’re just hoping our winner loves to take these photos so much that he’ll continue, even though he already won! Without further ado, here is our winning photo for this week, sent in by…

(drum roll…)

Alexander E.!

Even though there are gadgets, which are quite useful, reading is most enjoyable on the Opus.

Bravo and congratulations! We are thinking of delivering his prize in person, so we can spend some quality time on his verandah, which we are all coveting! We also loved his photo of the gigantic tome of Shakespeare, which you can see on facebook, along with the other photos.

Next week, the winner could be you! Show us where you like to read with your Cybook! Post your photo to our facebook page or send it to us by email at community[at]bookeen.com. Please mention “Cybook Parade” in the subject line.*

Congratulations again Alexander, and good luck to everyone for next week.

Are you the winner?

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

Our “Cybook parade” contest got off to a great start this week and we are thrilled to announce our first winner! For those just joining us, the contest is simple: just send us a photo to show us where you take your Cybook. For the entire month of June, we’ll choose one photo per week and the winner will receive a cover in the color of their choice. It’s not too late to send your photo, you might win next week!

We received some truly superb photos, in fact we just couldn’t decide which one we liked best. You can see them on our facebook page. Luckily there will be more winners because in fact we wish we could choose all of them! Since we couldn’t decide, we put the names in a hat and chose one at random. Now, we are very happy to tell you…

(drum roll…)

…that our first winner is: Maxim G.! Congratulations! We absolutely loved his beautiful photo which really shows off the excellent definition of the Opus’ e-ink screen even in direct sunlight.

Bonus prize!

In addition, we couldn’t help but be impressed by the enthusiasm of the person who sent in the very first photo, and then sent in several more! We appreciated that so much that we couldn’t help but reward her. So we’re giving away a bonus cover to Alyssa C.! Congratulations and most of all thanks so much for your enthusiasm! We hope to see even more photos of your “life with your Opus”.
